College is a time of personal exploration and advancement for young students. For many, this four year period offers an increased amount of freedom. With this freedom; however, comes responsibility as students are faced with the difficult decision of whether or not to include illegal substances to their lists of exploration. Institutions of all sizes are affected by this trend. Fortunately, substance abuse remains a relatively small problem at Crowder College.

I remember a time when good customer service was important to businesses; when the motto was “the customer is always right,” man, have things changed in 2011.
Trick nor treat
It saddens me how many people celebrate Halloween; it is the second most celebrated holiday with Christmas coming in first. Consumers spend over $2.5 billion during the Halloween holiday on candy, costumes, decorations, and party goods.
Students need more computer lab hours

Crowder College should provide a 24-hour computer lab for students to use when needed. Having computers available anytime will allow students to achieve better results in class. Students deserve to be supported and given the chance to enhance their ability to learn and grow. No student should have an advantage over another student due to lack of computer access.
Crowder College was honored by receiving 1st place in the Joplin Tri‐State Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work” for companies with 300 or more employees. Rounding out the top three were McCune Brooks Regional Hospital (2nd) and Downstream Casino (3rd).
